Friday has come...

Dear Parents,

It was another productive week in Grade 4.  Even though the students are looking forward to the summer break, they continue to work hard.

In Math, we completed Chapter 17: Congruence, Symmetry, and Transformations and began Chapter 18: Perimeter, Area, and Volume, covering up to Lesson 2: Algebra – Perimeter.  We will complete Chapter 18 next week.  In Science, we began Chapter 9: Managing Earth’s Resources, covering up to Lesson 2: Nonrenewable Resources.  Next week, we will complete Lesson 3: Conserving Resources, finishing Chapter 9.  In Social Studies, we will complete Chapter 6: Industry Takes Over next week.  In English, we continued with Unit 7: Adverbs and Prepositions, covering up to Lesson 4: Negatives.  Next week, we will complete Unit 7, which is the final unit about parts of speech.  In Reading, we completed The Last Dragon.  Next week, we will read a story from Theme 5: Heroes titled Dr. King.

Also, I have included some links to summer reading lists on my blog.  Each site has useful book reviews to help you and your child choose appealing stories.  The Great Schools site has a convenient table of contents that allows you to search by genre (fantasy, mystery, humor, etc.).  Both sites have books separated by grade level, so if you also have children in other grades you can simply click on that level.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Best regards,
Mr. Ahlers
