Dear Parents,
It has been a very good week in Grade 4, despite the inconsistent weather. The children had a great time on the field trip to Green World! I would like to thank the parents who were able to accompany us; I really appreciated your help.
We also completed the IOWA practice test in preparation for next week. The most important thing is for your child to be well rested. Testing can be a stressful process and proper rest will help them to perform better. I would also encourage only healthy snacks like fruit or nuts, especially during this week. This will help them to remain alert and focused. Please note, in order to limit the demands on the children there will be no homework next week.
Now, to the core curriculum… In Math, we began Chapter 16: Plane Figures, completing up to Lesson 4: Quadrilaterals and Other Polygons. We will complete Chapter 16 next week and have the test Tuesday, May 15. In Science, we continued with Chapter 8, Lesson 3: Slow Changes to Earth’s Surface. We will complete this lesson in the coming week and begin Chapter 9: Managing Earth’s Resources the following week. We will take the Chapter 8 test Thursday, May 17. In Social Studies, we began Chapter 6, Lesson 1: Factories Bring Change. We will continue this lesson next week. In English, we completed the Unit 6: Pronouns tests. We will begin Unit 7: Adverbs and Prepositions next week. In Reading, we will continue with Marven of the Great North Woods next week.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Mr. Ahlers
