A short week...

Dear Parents,

It has been a short, productive week in 4th grade.  In Math, the students took the Chapter 11 test, concluding Unit 4: Division of Whole Numbers.  Overall, they did a great job!  We also began Chapter 12, the first of four chapters in Unit 5: Measurement and Graphing, covering the first lesson on measuring length using customary units.  We will continue with Chapter 12 next week and should complete it by the beginning of the following week.  In Science, we completed Chapter 7, Lesson 3: Fossils.  On Monday, we will begin to review for the Chapter 7 test, which will be on Thursday, March 8th.  Also in Science, the children continued to work on their endangered animal project that is due Monday, March 5th.  On Monday, they will start their oral presentations about their animals.  You can assist your child in preparing by asking them to practice their presentation for you.  Due to time constraints caused by additional time discussing expectations for the endangered animal project, Social Studies will be resumed next week.  The children will continue to learn about the Northeast United States and how the availability of resources determined the work people did.  In English, we continued our study of Unit 5: Capitalization and Punctuation.  We will complete this unit by early the following week.  In Reading, we will begin our new story Heat Wave on Monday.

I hope you have a nice weekend!

Best regards,
Mr. Ahlers
