A great week to welcome spring...

Dear Parents,

The nice weather seems to have finally arrived! It is a welcome change from the overcast days we have had for most of the week. Hopefully, this weather will continue so the relay races can take place as scheduled on Wednesday, March 28th. If your schedule permits, please feel free to join us. The event begins at 1:00 P.M., with Pre-K to 3rd Grade racing first. The races for 4th Grade – 6th Grade will begin at 2:00 P.M. The races will be followed by a soccer game between the students and teachers.

In Math, the children took the Chapter 12: Customary and Metric Measurement test and did a great job! We also began Chapter 13: Time and Temperature, covering up to Lesson 3: Problem Solving Strategy – Guess and Check. We will complete this chapter on Tuesday of next week and have the test Wednesday, March 28th. In Science, we continued with Chapter 8: Forces that Shape Earth’s Surface, completing Lesson 1:  The Rock Cycle.  We will begin Lesson 2: Rapid Changes to Earth’s Surface on Monday. In Social Studies, we continued with Chapter 5: Using Land and Sea, completing Lesson 2: Building Ships. We will begin Lesson 3: Farms and Mills on Tuesday. We will conclude Chapter 5 with a chapter test following the spring break, and start Chapter 6: Industry Takes Over. In English, the students completed the Unit 5: Capitalization and Punctuation test and did an excellent job! We also began Unit 6: Pronouns, completing Lesson 1: What is a Pronoun? In Reading, the students completed a test over Heat Wave, again doing a great job! We also began the literature comparison of The Borrowers and Lord of the Fleas. We will begin Unit 4: Problem Solvers on our return from the spring break.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Best regards,
Mr. Ahlers
