Dear Parents,
It has been a lovely week at HIS! Much fun was had by all at the relay races on Wednesday. I appreciate everyone who was able coming to watch the events. As you know, next week will be spring vacation. School will start once again on Monday, April 9th. I am sure your children are excited about the break. On the Monday we return, there will be an Easter egg hunt for the children. Grade 4 will be hunting for eggs at 12:00. Please feel free to join us if you schedule allows.
Now for the progress update, we continue to move through the curriculum in the core classes. In Math, we completed Chapter 13: Time and Temperature. The students took the test on Thursday; I will return it on the Monday we return to school. We will begin Chapter 14: Collect and Analyze Data when we return. In Science, we reviewed Lesson 1: The Rock Cycle and began Lesson 2: Rapid Changes to Earth’s Surface. We will complete Lesson 2 next week and begin Lesson 3: Slow Changes to Earth’s Surface the following week. In Social Studies, we reviewed Lesson 2: Building Ships and began Lesson 3: Farms and Mills. We will complete Lesson 3 next week and review for the Chapter 5 test, which will be the following week. In English, we continued with Unit 6: Pronouns, completing up to Lesson 3: Object Pronouns. On our return, we will continue with Unit 6. In Reading, we finished the literature comparison of The Borrowers and Lord of the Fleas, completing Theme 3: That’s Amazing. When we return, we will begin Unit 4: Problem Solvers. As I mentioned in the parent meetings at the beginning of the year, we may skip one story in this theme, as we have done in the previous themes. This ensures that we will be able to cover as many of the themes as possible.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
I hope you have a lovely spring vacation!
Best regards,
Mr. Ahlers
