Dear Parents and Students,
I have added some useful links for education websites to my blog. I have tried to put them under subject headings, i.e. Math Mania! and Science Rules!, although many of them have resources for more than one subject area. I have also added a link section just for parents, Parents' Corner.
I have looked over each site to ensure that is has useful material and included brief overviews/ reviews below. I will continue adding more useful sites as I discover them. If you have any recommendations, I will gladly look them over and add them to my blog.

Math Mania
Math Playground - Nice website featuring Math, Logic, and Word Problem games. It also features short videos covering various concepts.
Cool Math 4 Kids - Another good website with a variety of games. It is well designed and colorful.
Kids Numbers - Good games for practicing various types of problems.
Khan Academy - Also listed under Teacher Picks. This is a great site! It has resources for various subject areas for K-12. It has an excellent Math practice section beginning with basic addition and going all the way to advanced operations. You just need to click on the Practice tab at the top of the page to reach it. Children simply answer a series of questions in one area until they answer enough correctly to move to the next area. They earn points and badges of achievement along the way!
BJ Pinchbeck's Homework Helper - This page is part of Discovery Education. It is a great resource, featuring an impressive list of links to different Math sites. It is well organized and divided into various areas of interest, Elementary Level Math, General Math, Algebra, etc. *Note - this site may take a few moments to open. Please be patient, it is worth the wait.
Science Rules!
Science Monster (by CoolMath4Kids) - Good resource with short lessons in various areas of Science. It also features some online games and apps.
Brain Recess
Spike's Game Zone (by CoolMath4Kids) - Fun games to play when you are taking a break.
Teacher's Picks
Khan Academy - The Khan Academy is an amazing non-profit site, offering a wide selection of educational videos for K-12 in Math, Science, and the Humanities (History, American Civics, Art History). Best of all, it has an excellent Math practice section as detailed above under Math Mania!.
Fun Brain - Website featuring Math games, word games, and reading material. It is an excellent, user friendly site!
Discovery Education, Free Student Resources - This is a fantastic website! The student section features Homework Help for a variety of subjects, Games and Interactives, and WebMATH with step-by-step instructions for various types of problems. The Parent section also features Homework Help and WebMATH. Additionally, it has a Motivation Station with tips on keeping children motivated.
