Endangered Animal Project – Due Wednesday, February 29th
Letter to students with project requirements:
Dear Students,
You have been chosen for a very special mission. The Endangered Species Protection Agency, or ESPA, would like you to create a presentation about your animal to educate others about them and help raise awareness of the threats this animal faces. Although there are many animals whose survival is in danger throughout the world, we are going to focus on animals on the African continent.
Each of you will create a Google presentation about your animal. This presentation should include the following information.
1. Scientific name of the animal species.
2. Physical description: what does it look like?
3. Description of the type of environment where the animal lives (for example, desert, grassland, forest, ocean, etc.)
4. Diet: what the animal eats in the wild.
5. Population: the current estimated population.
6. Range: where (what countries) it can be found; include a map of its range.
7. Behavior: is the animal social or a loner? does it migrate? is it nocturnal? how many times a year does it reproduce? how many offspring does it have? Include any details you find interesting.
8. Status: good, threatened, endangered, etc.
9. Threats: what threatens this animal’s survival (for example, habitat destruction, predator animals, man, etc.)
Your presentation should be a minimum of 11 slides: Title page (with your name please!), one for each item listed above (9), and a resource page (this tells me where your information came from).
*Note: You should have at least one picture for each slide; more will likely earn you higher marks. Please make sure your pictures have to do with the item you are talking about; save any silly pictures for the end.
Once your projects are completed, we will have class presentations so you can share what you have learned about your animal. We will also conduct presentations that other classes may attend, so you can help them to learn about endangered species.
Good luck and have fun!
