End of the week

Dear Parents,

It has been a productive week in 4th Grade. In Math, we completed up to chapter 4, lesson 7: multiplying with three factors. We will finish chapter 4 next week. The students will have the test when they return from fall break. In Science, the students took their test over chapter 3: life cycles. We also completed chapter 4, lesson 1: responding to the environment. We will begin lesson 2 next week. In Reading, we completed By the Shores of Silver Lake. This coming week they will learn about mysteries. Over the weekend, they have been asked to read Encyclopedia Brown, The Case of the Earthenware Pig. In English, we covered up to lesson 6 in unit 2, singular possessive nouns. The students also began a journal project about their personal interests. So far they have written about their hobbies, likes, and dislikes. Next, they will write about something that makes them feel proud. In Social Studies, we completed chapter 2: regions and borders. They will have their test over this chapter on Monday. For art, the students made a positively negative pumpkin which you can see on my blog.

We will be having our Halloween celebration next Wednesday, October 26. After the morning parade and class songs, we will join 3rd grade for relay races and decorating cupcakes. We will finish the day with a movie. You are welcome to join us!

Best regards,
Mr. Ahlers
