End of the week

Hello parents,

It was a very good week in 4th grade.  In Math, the students had a test over Chapter 2, and we are moving along in Chapter 3.  We will complete Chapter 3 by the end of next week, and have the test on Tuesday, October 11.  In Science, the students finished Chapter 3, Lesson 1: Life Cycle of Plants and began Lesson 2: Animal Life Cycles.  We will complete Lesson 2 and move into Lesson 3: Parents and Offspring.  In Social Studies, we completed Chapter 1, Lesson 3: Working the Land and started on Lesson 4: Working with Others, which we will complete early next week.  They will take the Chapter 1 test on Wednesday, and then we will begin Chapter 2: Regions.  In Reading, we completed Grandfather’s Journey.  Early in the week they will learn about haiku poetry.  We will then begin Finding the Titanic, which is a little longer than our past two stories, so it will likely take two weeks to cover.  I think the children will find it very interesting though.  In English, we will complete Unit 1: Sentences on Monday, the test will be on Tuesday.  We will be starting on Unit 2: Nouns.  The students will also be presenting their descriptive paragraphs to the class starting on Wednesday.

As always, please do to hesitate to contact me if you any questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Mr. Ahlers
